Arthur Yerdonek Obituary

Arthur J. Yerdonek, 75, of Holiday City, Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away Friday, April 19, 2024.

A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Arthur was born on Sunday, February 20, 1949 in Passaic. He grew up in Secaucus and attended Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Weehawken High School. He lived many years in Toms River before moving to Berkeley Twp. two years ago.

From a young age Arthur exhibited resilience and determination. He believed he could achieve any goal he set for himself and he did; overcoming obstacles and challenges with courage and grace. When he was fifteen years old he started selling magazines door-to-door, and later he sold diapers. This would begin a career in sales. He worked at various insurance companies, many times winning awards for being a top salesman. Most recently, Arthur worked as a Financial Advisor at Sound Financial, his own business in Toms River.

Aligned with his determined spirit, Arthur was a constant learner and had a real passion for self-improvement. He sought to make meaning of difficult situations and was able to see the beauty and opportunity in them. Arthur was a sturdy supporter of his family and friends, and he never gave up on the people he loved.

Arthur was a voracious reader of philosophy and history, and he was talented at writing. He enjoyed trying to master the unforgiving game of golf, and was a true fan of baseball and the Dodgers. In recent years, Arthur started running with the goal to complete a Thanksgiving 5k with his family each year. He enjoyed simple pleasures and bringing people together for a good time, especially at his famous summer BBQ’s. Together with his beloved wife Michaele, he traveled much of the United States, and finally made it to Europe for the first time in 2022 where he passionately took in the history of Berlin, Paris and Normandy.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mary (nee Novak) and Joseph Yerdonek, and sister Debbie Yerdonek who passed away when Arthur was a young child.

Arthur is survived by his devoted wife Michaele (nee Margeson), his children Kristen (Craig) Aberle of Sherborn, MA and Brian Yerdonek of Toms River, a step-daughter, Jessica (Matt) Jablonski of Pine Beach, NJ, a sister Mary (Richard) Leal and five granddaughters, Ella, Annie, Hattie, Charlotte, and Alexandra, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, April 26, 2024 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, April 27, 2024 12:00pm at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley. Burial to follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls, NJ.
