John Richard Albanese age 90 passed away Sunday March 17, 2024 in Toms River, NJ. John is survived by his wife of 70 years Carmella Albanese, Sons Anthony Albanese (Joan) and John Albanese (Barbara), Daughters Maria Albanese and Jacqueline Sereika (Bobby), 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Born in Newark NJ to Anthony and Mary Albanese, brother to Emily Araneo and Rosemary McDermott, John was a Union Lather and Carpenter for 45 years. When he was not working his primary job, he was a Florist. John sold Christmas Trees, made Grave Blankets, Wreathes and other flower arrangements.
John was most proud of making Palm Crosses for the better part of 50 years. John loved taking care of his home, always sweeping the walks and raking the grass. John was a private but talented man, self-taught he knew construction, electrical, plumbing and remodeling. John was a generous man helping his children when they needed him and helping family and friends when thy asked. John liked musicals to music and liked high school plays, he liked fishing and crabbing and especially gardening. Like all Italians he loved to eat.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30am, Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church Berkeley Township with Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J.
