Michael C. Robertson, 78 of the West Point Island section of Lavallette, New Jersey passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 2, 1945 in Morristown, New Jersey and attended Plainfield high school. After graduating high school he enlisted in the military and served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. America during the Vietnam War. After serving in the military he attended Seton Hall University. Upon graduating, he attended the United States Secret Service academy and became a Special Agent of the United States Secret Service, having the distinction of serving on two separate Presidential details for President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. Following his service on both Presidential details, he completed his career with the Secret Service in the Newark, New Jersey Field Office as a Special Agent in Charge. During this time, he resided in Basking Ridge, New Jersey with his wife and three children. He retired in 1998 and eventually moved to Lavallette. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Jessie (Swain) Robertson. He was the youngest of four siblings, Thomas Robertson, William Robertson and Jessie Grote, who all predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret “Peggy” (Havasy). He and Peggy recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his son, Michael H. Robertson and wife Michele (Ferzan); his daughter Meghan Robertson, and his youngest son, Charles Robertson and his wife Leslie (Bennett), and his beloved grandchildren Ashlyn (15), William (12), Brynn (9) and Hadley (5).
The arrangements are under the direction of The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 706 Grand Central Ave. Lavallette, NJ 08735. In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly requesting that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, New Jersey 07924 on April 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. All who wish to pay their respects to the family are welcome.
