Obituary for John Horbacewicz

John Horbacewicz, 53, of Toms River New Jersey, formerly of Irvington, passed from this life Friday, March 6, 2020. John was born October 12, 1966 in Livingston, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, Meghan Horbacewicz of Toms River; his two children, Jack Horbacewicz of Pennsylvania; Lauren Rose Horbacewicz of Toms River; his parents, Michael and Stella Horbacewicz of Toms River. John was the third youngest of four and is survived by his sister, Diane Horbacewicz of Oregon; brother Michael Horbacewicz and wife Jill of Tenafly; sister, Cathy Cosham and husband Stephen of Bermuda; his Mother in law, Mary Rose Farley; Father in law, Thomas Farley; Brothers in law, Devin Farley and his wife Alena of Flemington; Timothy Farley and his wife Diane of New York. He is also survived by his two nephews and six nieces who loved him dearly.
John was a devoted husband to his wife Meghan of 25 years whom he loved very much. He treasured his time spent with his two children at concerts, scuba diving, being a super fan at Lauren’s volleyball games, and camping by the Delaware River. He was a loving son who always helped his parents. John’s second family was the Irvington Fire Department where he proudly served the residents of his home town of Irvington as a fireman and recently retired as Captain after 25 years of service. He was someone everyone could count on. There’s nothing he couldn’t fix, no favor he wouldn’t do. His friendships were for life.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday March 10, 2020 from 4PM to 8PM at Timothy E Ryan Home for Funerals , 995 Fischer Blvd, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at St Justin the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, Toms River with committal service to be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to Riverview Medical center in Red Bank, NJ or Stand Up to Cancer

John was a true friend and Brother. We shared lots of good times at station 4, and station 1 at the end of my career. John was a very proud person and a great officer. He will surely be missed. RIP my Friend. You will always be in my thoughts and never forgotten. 🙏

John was one of those friends that you never forget - a friend that becomes like family. I think of him and my mind races back to a time of youth and innocence.... of summer days, swimming, white water rafting, Fr. Stan, the rectory, game 5 - 1986 Mets World Series, coffee hour, donuts, St Paul’s carnival, learning to drive, cutting class on Thursday afternoons, youth group, Search, Fishers, climbing down the laundry shoot, and John meeting Meghan ♥️ and knowing he had met his match!!

I could go on and on ....... Time and life can get in the way, but John was one of those friends that I could simply pick up from where we left off.

John - I cannot believe that you are gone. You left us all way too soon! I’m greatfull that you are out of pain and not hurting anyone- but the world was a better place with you in it. You will be missed beyond measure, but one day we will all meet again.

My heart, prayers and love are with all of you - Stella, Mike, Meghan, Jack, Lauren, Diane, Michael, Cathy and all your families. I am here for anything you need. John - Rest easy now in the arms of the Lord. #godspeed #oneofthegoodones #foreverinourhearts
