Alba Crandall Obituary

Early on the morning of Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Alba R. Crandall, age 92, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home. Born on September 12, 1932, in Mather, Pennsylvania, to Adolpho and Gemella Ranieri, and older sister Alda Ranieri. Alba’s life was a remarkable journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Alba spent much of her life in Bloomfield, NJ, before residing in Toms River, NJ, and ultimately making her home in Brick, NJ, where she lived happily for the past 20 years. She enjoyed a fulfilling career, first with the telephone company and later as an investigator for the unemployment office with the State of New Jersey, where her meticulous nature and commitment to helping others shone brightly.

When Alba wasn’t working, she embraced life with boundless energy and a zest for joy. She was an avid golfer who treasured days spent on the green and a passionate traveler who delighted in exploring new destinations. Her culinary skills were legendary—her large Italian dinners were a labor of love that brought family and friends together around the table. Above all, Alba adored her family and took immense pride in her role as a matriarch, creating a legacy of love and unity that will endure for generations.

Her deep compassion extended to all creatures, and she held a special place in her heart for animals, often offering her time, care, and kindness to furry friends. Alba loved her cat Jayce and was preceded in death by her beloved cat Ali. She often spent her time in the living room with her “grand puppies” Ruca and Bleu, who sat patiently waiting for her to share her snacks - which she happily would. Alba’s generosity of spirit knew no bounds; she was a source of unwavering support, unconditional love, and sage advice to all who were lucky enough to know her.

Alba was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert B. Crandall, in 2001, and her cherished daughter, Jacqueline Salimbene, in 2018. She is survived by her loving grandchildren: Nicholas Salimbene; Rachel Salimbene and her partner, Daniella Ellis; Daniel Salimbene and his wife, Renee Salimbene. She also leaves behind her three treasured great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Luke, and Dominic Salimbene, who brought her endless joy and pride. Alba also deeply cherished her extended family, maintaining close bonds and celebrating life's milestones together, always ensuring they felt the warmth of her love and the strength of her unwavering support.

A simple obituary cannot fully capture the extraordinary life Alba lived. She was a woman of immense strength, warmth, and kindness, whose legacy is defined by her open heart, unwavering support, and infectious laughter. Alba embraced life’s challenges with grace and celebrated its joys with gratitude. She will be remembered as a beacon of love, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Alba R. Crandall’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
