Alexander Robert (“Bob”) Elias, 86, of Seaside Park, New Jersey, formerly of Yardley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on October 28, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, which continued to hold a special place for him. It was in Trenton where he met his wife, Joan, and where he worked every day until his retirement in 1990 from his business, Elias Fuel Oil, Inc. Bob and Joan married in 1960 and continued to live and raise their family in Trenton until moving to Yardley, Pennsylvania, in 1972. Bob and Joan loved the Jersey Shore and maintained vacation homes in Seaside Park, New Jersey, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida, for many years before deciding to live in Seaside Park full time in 1993. Bob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed time aboard his boat, KRITTER GITTER. He was a loving husband and devoted father to his children, David and Jeanine. Bob proudly served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a communicant of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Seaside Park, serving as an usher at the 8:00 A.M. Sunday mass for many years. He also was a member of the Seaside Park Yacht Club. Bob was a kind and generous friend; he was an aficionado of jazz; he was a great dancer; and he was a consummate card player – an all-around fun-loving man. Bob will be greatly missed by all who know him.
Alexander was predeceased by his loving parents, Alexander Elias and Anne Bodnar Elias; his lovely wife, Joan Bilecki Elias; and his dear sister, Carol Dragon.
Alexander is survived by son, David Elias and his companion, Bettina Haeffner, of Stuart, Florida; by daughter, Jeanine Elias and her husband Robert Suarez of Hoboken, New Jersey; grandchildren, Alexander Jensen Elias and Ethan Elias Suarez; sister, Bonnie Porczynski, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; sister, Nancy Rowe, and her husband Jim of Seaside Park, New Jersey, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida; sister, Patti Forman, and her husband Bruce of Naples, Florida; and many nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Catharine of Sienna RC Church with Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
