Alice M. (Martin) Warren

Alice M. Warren (Martin), 83 of the Silver Ridge West section of Toms River, NJ, passed from this life peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023. Alice was born in Paterson, NJ and lived in Hawthorne, NJ before marrying William G. Warren (Bill) in 1960. After they were married, they settled in Ringwood, NJ where she raised her 3 sons before moving to Toms River 28 years ago.

She was a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, trusted sister and aunt and faithful friend. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River, where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, Scrabble and Rummikub and was an avid reader. The center of her world was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and made some of the best pasta dinners and desserts, especially Christmas cookies and cream cheese and chocolate chip cupcakes. She loved the beach and spent many summers vacationing at the Jersey Shore with her family. She also loved spending time with friends and family who admired her so much. She had a way of making each person feel so special. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Prior to raising her family, she worked at Prudential. Later she worked in the cafeteria of Martin J. Ryerson middle school in Ringwood and as a teller at Sun Bank in Toms River. She also volunteered at Community Medical Center and the local consignment shop in Toms River.

Alice is predeceased by her parents, James and Emma Martin; brother, James Martin; and sisters, Mary Dick, Kathleen Fearns, and Margaret Hurley.

Alice is survived by her loving husband Bill of 62 years; sons, Mark Warren of Toms River, NJ, Eric Warren and his wife Eileen of Annandale, NJ, Greg Warren and his wife Lynn Butler of Camden, NC; brothers, John Martin and his wife Cynthia of Blountville, TN, and Richard Martin and his wife Teresa of Oakridge, NJ; many nieces and nephews; and her five grandchildren, Mary, Katie, Shannon, Benjamin and Jackson.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 1pm to 5pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Monday, June 5, 2023 at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River, NJ with Burial to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery Wrightstown, NJ.
