Ann Heil Obituary

Ann (Halasnik) Heil of Manchester, died peacefully on February 16, 2021, with her family by her side, just 6 days shy of her 95th birthday. Ann was born on February 22, 1926 in Carteret, NJ, the daughter of Peter and Julia Halasnik.

Following her 1943 graduation from Carteret High School, Ann received her nursing degree through the WWII Cadet Nurses program and worked at St. Elizabeth and Alexian Brothers Hospitals. Ann lived in New England for a time before moving to Beachwood where she and her family lived for nearly 30 years. While in Beachwood, Ann was a volunteer and lifetime member of the Beachwood First Aid Squad and loved the work she did. Years later, she retired from Bayview Convalescent Center in Bayville.

Ann was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late George H. Heil, who predeceased her on January 19, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her son, John “Lenny” Kachur and brother, Michael Halasnik.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Petra LaMonica and her husband Christopher of Toms River, Christine Sullivan and her husband Bill of Pembroke, MA, George Heil, Jr. and his wife Betsy of Somers Point, brother, Peter Halasnik of Linden, and daughter-in-law Terry Kachur of Atlantic City. She also leaves her 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Julianna, Matthew, Elizabeth, Laura and Marc and her 8 great- grandchildren, Michael, Luke, Gabriel, Timothy, Mia, Peyton, Wesley and Quinn, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in honor of Ann by donating to the Zzak G. Applaud Our Kids Foundation, Applaudourkids.org.

Due to Covid, services at the funeral home will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Barnabas RC Church in Bayville. All Covid restrictions will be followed.
