Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Anthony (Tony) R. Riccobono, 62, of Toms River, N.J. on July 8, 2023. He fought a courageous four month battle with Cancer. His favorite saying throughout his journey was “The Biggest Battles are given only to the Toughest Warriors”. He fought with strength, positivity, kindness and faith. He leaves us with lasting memories that our hearts will always hold onto.

Tony was born and raised in New York City before moving to Toms River. He was an alumnus of Xavier High School and Seton Hall University and earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University.

Tony was a Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor and the Founder/Director of Pathways to Serenity, LLC in Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey. His passion and dedication toward helping people with addictions leaves a legacy that will live on in the many lives he has touched. He was a shining light of hope and healing for so many.

There are not enough words to describe this beautiful soul. He was full of life and positivity, a kind, caring, selfless, humble human being. He will be remembered by his beautiful smile, contagious laughter, funny jokes and storytelling abilities. He cherished his time spent with family and friends, enjoying good food, conversations and laughter. He was famous for his magic tricks and practical jokes, most recently showing off his flaming wallet.

Anthony is predeceased by his parents, Hon. Xavier C. Riccobono and Sylvia Riccobono, and his brother in law, Robert Mahony.

He will be missed by so many, his wife and the love of his life, Phyllis, loving son, Steven; sister, Lorraine Mahony; brother in laws and sister in laws, Carmine and Rosetta DiGiorgio; Angelo and Deborah DeMattia; nephews and nieces, Justin; Kristen; Vincent; David; Vito Christine and Thomas; great niece, Madison; great nephews, Vito; Luca; many cousins, friends and his dog, Bruno.
