Armando J. “Chick” Chechele, 91 of Toms River, passed from this life on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Chick was born December 1, 1933 in Orange, New Jersey to the late Vincenzo and Rachel Chechele. He served his country Honorable as a Corporal in the Marines from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean conflict. He worked for the state of NJ Highway Departments and retired from the Township of Woodbridge Parks and Recreation in 1995. He was a member of the Italian American Club, Past President of the Berkeley Italian American Social Club and served as previous President of the Holiday City/Silver Ridge Italian American Social Club and a member of the C.O.C.R. Italian American Club. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 4969, The VFW 6063, Toms River Elks Lodge 1875, where he served as an officer from 2007 to 2010, serving as Co-Charirman of the Elks Bingo. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Armando is predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo James Chechele; Rachel Nigro; wife, Antoinette DeCristfaro; brothers, Pat Chechele; Rocco Chechele; sisters, Marie Thompson and Jene Marraffino.
Armando is survived by sister, Nancy Leighton and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Bural will be held at 10am, Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp. with burial to follow at Forrest Green Cemetery, Marlboro Township.
