Barbara A. (Sherrier) Coakley

Barbara A. Coakley (Sherrier), 82 of Berkeley Township, NJ passed from this life at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday December 28, 2024. Born in Elizabeth, NJ she lived there for 62 years before moving to the Jersey Shore. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and grandmother.  She worked as a Secretary in the Athletic Dept at Kean University in Union NJ. Barbara was a parishioner of St Joseph’s RC Church, Toms River, and St Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Berkeley Twps. She was a Board member of her local chapter of Deborah, an avid card player and loved playing Mahjong and Bunco with friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph whom she was married to for over 57 years.  She is survived by 3 sons; Joseph J. Jr and wife Cindy; Brian and partner Brian; Jeff and wife Joyce; two sisters-in-law Barbara Sherrier and Betty Sherrier; and nine grandchildren.  Jeffrey Jr and wife Ashley, Christopher, Brian and husband Alexei, Katie, Maureen, Sean, Matthew, Joseph, and John.  Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Barbara on Friday January 3, 2025, from 3 to 7pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St Catherine Blvd Toms River, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twps. Committal will be private.
