Barbara "Babe" Weldon Obituary

It is with deepest sorrow to share the passing of Barbara “Babe” Virginia William Weldon on November 1st, 2024. Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose love was described as nothing short from pure; fulfilled with light, and warmth. Babe was born on November 19th, 1947 in Holmdel, N.J, and raised in Westfield, N.J. She grew up surrounded by her three cherished siblings, Robert F. Weldon Jr., Richard Townley Weldon, and Beverly Whaley. Babe’s true guiding lights were her parents, Virginia and Robert F. Weldon Sr., who instilled the importance of strong family values. She graduated from Westfield High School and for higher-education attended Finch in Manhattan, the University of Kentucky, and Monmouth University. Babe navigated her life with grace, never judging, always accepting, and welcoming others into her life with love and open arms. She was privileged to travel at a young age, and her love for travel continued throughout her life. She spent time with her family and friends at her summer home in Mantoloking, N.J., and winters in Delray Beach, FL. On summer nights at the Jersey Shore, one could find her sitting in the “Screen House”, surrounded by loved ones, listening to music, enjoying chardonnay, while watching the sunset. In the winter she could be found walking her beloved dogs each morning, while spending afternoons at the Seagate Beach Club, where she was a member. Babe was an avid lover of all animals, but especially her dogs Salti, Hailey, Sam, and Amanda all of whom she loved unconditionally. She also had a great passion for sports, however later in life watching golf became one of her favorite past-times. Babe’s spirit and memory will live on through her two daughters, Virginia Townley and Nicole Cruikshank, her grandchildren Thomas Lounsbury, Nicholas Lounsbury, Lillian Lounsbury, and Caulen Coe, as well as her nephews Robert and Richard Whaley, Robert Weldon III, Scott, Michael, and Brian Cruikshank, and her niece Elizabeth Quail. The saying, “to know you is to love you”, could never be more true than with “Nana.” She will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Barbara will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle, N.J. A ceremony to celebrate her life will be held in the Spring of 2025. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting to please donate to one of her favorite charities listed below: St Jude’s (www.stjude.org) The Boy’s and Girl’s Club (www.bgca.org) The Seeing Eye (www.SeeingEye.org) Ifopa (www.ifopa.org) Feeding America (www.feedingamerica.org) Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (www.mskcc.org) Virginia Lounsbury Foundation for POTS Research (http://bit.ly/2DxumCs)
