Bernard “Bernie” Bernick, 76, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Jupiter, Florida.
Born in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, Bernie grew up in Marshfield, Massachusetts, alongside his five brothers. A standout high school athlete, he earned a football scholarship to the University of Bridgeport.
Shortly after college, Bernie met Eileen. It was love at first sight, beginning a beautiful 52-year marriage. They raised their family and eventually settled in Toms River, New Jersey.
For Bernie, relationships were everything. He was a devoted father who dedicated his time to supporting his kids and their closest friends in everything they did. He deeply cherished his lifelong friendships, his special bond with his in-laws, the Menice family, and the countless stories he created with everyone he loved.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Jane, and brothers, Dan and Ben. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen; children and their spouses, Sarah and Jay, Kevin and Jacki, and Jason and Debra; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Mike, Gianna, Kamryn, Jaxon, Jordyn, and River; and brothers, Jim, Albert, and Michael.
He leaves behind a legacy of dreaming big and a "bigger than life" spirit that his family will carry forward forever and miss immensely.
A celebration of life will be held on June 11, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Funeral Home, 145 St Catherine Blvd, Toms River, NJ 08755. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
