Beverly A. Hopkins

Beverly A. Hopkins, 91, of the Silver Ridge Park North section of Berkeley Township, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ, with family by her side.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but lived most of her life in New Jersey where she graduated Westfield High School, and, with her husband, George, built a home in Newfoundland, where they raised their family of four daughters and numerous pets. Sixteen years ago, she retired to Toms River and became active in the Silver Ridge Park North community.

Beverly worked as an executive secretary for Miles Pharmaceuticals in Riverdale, NJ and as a medical secretary at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains where she was dedicated to serving the medical staff on the Cardiac Care Unit.

In her retirement, Bev became an active member of the Silver Ridge Park North First Aid Auxiliary and Women’s Club, she participated in Veteran’s and patriotic events, and she found a new passion playing Mah Jongg. Bev made lasting friendships and happy memories with many wonderful people throughout her life, and she remained close with her dearest friend from Jr. High School. Bev remembered her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends on their birthdays when she would play for them, ‘happy birthday’ on her kazoo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Edythe (Haber) Schweitzer, and Edward Schweitzer; and her husband George W. Hopkins. Surviving are her Children, Nancy Hopkins (Stanley Depczek), Linda Weber, Sharon Coop (Timothy), Pamela Lisa (Joseph); Grandchildren, Joseph (Kirsten), Matthew, and Evelyn; and three Great-Grandchildren.

Family will receive relatives and friends on January 31, 2026 at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ for a Memorial Gathering @ 11:30am to 1:30pm with a Memorial Service @ 1:00pm. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com
