Chris E. Olvesen, 68, of the Chadwick Beach section of Toms River Twp., NJ, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026.
Born in Hoboken, NJ, he lived in Iselin, NJ before moving to Chadwick Beach 12 years ago.
Chris received his Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University.
While he worked for Siemens and Dun & Bradstreet for most of his career, his favorite job was being the Captain of Barnegat Bay Sunset Cruises.
Chris was an avid New York Yankee fan who loved boating and playing golf.
He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Rosemary Olvesen and a sister Anita Hammond in 2021.
Chris is survived by his wife of 43 years Frieda (nee Barakos), his three children Erik Olvesen and his wife Amber, Maria Kaminskas and her husband Patrick, & Victoria Olvesen, his six siblings Rosemary Olvesen, JoAnn Couch and her husband Rocky, Arthur Olvesen and his wife Rosemary, Michael Olvesen and his wife Marianne, Karen Lawlor and her husband Michael, Diane Van Zeyl and her husband Bob, and three grandchildren Ethan, Aleena and Bryce.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 20, 2026 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Save Barnegat Bay, 117 Haines Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
