Daniel Foley Obituary

Daniel William Foley, 78, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Freehold, NJ, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024.

Born in Mississippi, he was raised in Brooklyn, NY. He later lived in Freehold, NJ for many years and was active in his community, serving on the Raintree Board and spent his final term as Board President. Daniel moved to Port St. Lucie, FL 6 years ago with his late wife MaryAnn to enjoy their retirement in the warm sun with endless happy hours and wonderful friends.

Daniel had a long career as a Delivery Supervisor for the New York Times before his retirement.

He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1672, Freehold, NJ, a 4th Degree member of the John D. McMahon Assembly #1926, Toms River and a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.  

Daniel was very active with the Knights of Columbus, serving as Past Grand Knight, Past Faithful Navigator and was a former District Deputy.

He was a longtime parishioner of St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Freehold, NJ.

Daniel was an avid New York Jets and New York Mets fan and loved the game of golf.

He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara in 2008, his second wife MaryAnn 2021, his parents Daniel and Joan (DeSalvatore) Foley, a brother Michael J. Foley and a sister Joan D. Foley.

Daniel is survived by his two stepchildren Jennifer McNamee and her husband Dan of Bayville, NJ, Frank Merowchek and his wife Christine of Toms River, NJ, and seven beloved grandchildren Kaitlyn, Brianna and Liam McNamee, Marissa, Brandon, Angelo and Mila Merowchek.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 8, 2024 3:00pm – 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, February 9, 2024 11:00am at St. Barnabas RC Church, Bayville, NJ.  Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
