David H. Fant, 56, of Ortley Beach passed away on Saturday October 4, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Paterson NJ, Dave grew up in Woodland Park before moving to Wayne and then settling in Ortley Beach. Dave owned and operated DHF Electric LLC for over 25 years.
Dave’s loving wife Ellen Marie “EL” was his best friend, love of his life of 29 beautiful years, and the heart of his world. Their love was genuine, the kind that everyone around them could feel. His favorite thing in the world was spending time with his children Alexa Rae, Jaclyn, and David Jr. They shared unforgettable memories skiing, boating, fishing, going to hockey games and just being together. His unconditional love for his children was his lifeline and being a father was what he was most proud of. Dave was the life of every party, and his contagious smile and witty sarcastic humor lit up every room he was in. Whenever he was around you could always expect to have a good time. Dave was a Devils diehard and a loyal Jets fan – win or lose – cheering them on with equal parts passion and humor, never losing faith that this would be their year.
Dave was a parishioner of St. Catharine of Siena RC Church in Seaside Park, NJ. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Ortley Beach.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Richard Fant, his sister Suzanne Stark and mother-in-law, Ellen Hegel. Surviving is his loving wife Ellen Marie (Hegel) Fant, his children; Alexa Rae, Jaclyn, and David Jr., his mother Carol (Pegg) Fant, his brother Ricky Fant (Leslie) and his sister Kim Murphy (Keith), brother in law Greg Stark, brother in law Andrew Hegel (Debra), sister in law, Mare Gray (Billy) and his loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends that became family.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday October 8, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 706 Grand Central Ave. Lavallette, NJ. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday 10am at St. Catharine of Siena RC Church, Seaside Park, NJ. Entombment will follow to Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
