David Edward Melchior

David Edward Melchior, 71 of Toms River, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 18, 2020. David was born June 9, 1949 in Syracuse, New York to the late Richard and Beverly Melchior. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and a dedicated grandfather. David served his community over the years, by coaching youth basketball and volunteering with Boy Scouts. He took pride in being a surrogate father to many neighborhood kids as well. He was an avid fan of both the Syracuse Orangemen and the New York Giants, making for very spirited sports seasons. When not watching his favorite teams, David enjoyed completing challenging jigsaw puzzles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

David is survived by his wife, Pamela Rubino Melchior; his son, Erik Melchior and his wife Tara; his son Kevin Melchior and his wife Erika; his daughter, Denise Hinton and her husband Michael; his brother, Richard Melchior and his wife Sue; his brother Dana Melchior and his wife Carol; his sister, Beverly Sheldon and her husband Bob; and seven loving grandchildren: Bella, Katie, Michael, Abby, Brendan, Derek and Lukas.

A private service for immediate family is being held on Thursday and a memorial service for friends and extended family will be scheduled for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to your local food bank or to the Ronald McDonald House, two initiatives that David supported throughout his life.
