Elaine (Lorence) Checkowski

Elaine Checkowski, 80, of Toms River passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Elaine was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on April 27, 1944. She moved to Toms River in 1973, where she enjoyed fifty-one years living by the Jersey Shore. Elaine is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Stanley Checkowski, son Stanley Jr. and wife Jennifer Checkowski of Hamilton, NJ and daughter Christy and husband Thomas Natoli of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. She is also survived by her cherished grandson Ryan Checkowski. Elaine is predeceased by her parents Frank and Regina Lorence and sister Rose Demko.  

Elaine owned and operated her own travel agency "Sweet Dreams by Elaine", for twenty-six years. She made vacation dreams come true for both family and friends. She was also a manager for the Beach Club Hotel in Seaside Park, NJ for many years. More than anything else, Elaine loved spending time with her family, which included trips to the beach in Seaside Park (North Street) with her husband Stanley and spending summer days with her grandson by the pool. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in the Timothy E. Ryan Funeral Home, 995 Fischer Boulevard at 9:30 AM with Mass directly following at St. Justin's Catholic Church, 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
