Eleanor M. (Andersen) O'Neill

Eleanor M. O'Neill, 98, who resided in the Mira Vie Assisted Living Facility in Fanwood, N.J. in her latter years, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 quietly in her sleep.

Eleanor was born, raised, and married to her husband Richard T. O'Neill in Brooklyn, N.Y., spending the first half of her life there. She then resided in Demarest, N.J. for 20 years before retiring to Berkeley Township, N.J..

Eleanor was charismatic, kind, funny, humble, strong and optimistic. She had a way of making all those around her smile. A dearly beloved wife and mother, she worked tirelessly taking care of every need of her husband and family. She also volunteered at the Demarest Middle School as everyone's favorite "lunch lady"/teacher's aide on the playground at recess during the school year, and in the office of the Demarest Swim Club during the summer. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, Atlantic City, knitting, scratch-offs and beach trips.

Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Mathilda Andersen; her sisters Ruth, Ingrid, and Evelyn; her brothers Andrew, Robert, and Arthur. and her dearly departed husband, Richard.

She is survived by her 6 children and their families: Richard T. O'Neill, Jr. and his wife Bethea of Westfield; N.J., Carol Cavo and her husband Robert of Belvidere, N.J.; Kathleen O'Neill of Sussex County, N.J.; Claire Kriz of Millsboro, DE.; Diane Fiumefreddo and her husband Charles of St. Augustine, FL.; and Thomas O'Neill and his wife Lucy of Sparta, N.J..

Eleanor had 17 grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way), and many nieces and nephews, whom she adored with all of her heart.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, N.J.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church in Berkeley Township, N.J. Burial will follow at the BG William C Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J..
