Eleanor (Sobon) Welch

Eleanor B. Welch (nee Sobon), 85, of Seaside Park, NJ, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was one of seven children born to Thaddeus and Helen (nee, Stefanik) Sobon.

Born in Rahway, NJ, she went on to graduate from Douglass College, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Eleanor went on to joyfully teach third grade elementary school, served as the Treasurer of the Education Association and received the Merck Science Teacher of the Year Award.

Eleanor was an active member of the Seaside Park Garden Club serving as a past President and the Seaside Park Yacht Club for many years contributing and enjoying her time with both organizations in various roles.

Eleanor is survived by her husband Joseph Welch, her three children Michael Bukosky and his wife Catherine of Allendale, NJ, Christopher Bukosky and his wife Kassia of Trenton, NJ, and Jacquelynne Wilhelm of Fair Haven, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Veronica Nicholson of Seaside Park, NJ, her brother Bernard Soban and his wife Arlene of Edison, NJ, and six grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 7, 2025, 1:00pm – 5:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 10:00am at St Catharine of Sienna RC Church of the Parish of St. Junipero Serra, Seaside Park, NJ.
