Evan Riley Fiore entered eternal rest on Friday, March 7, 2025. He was 23. A lifelong resident of Toms River, Evan was born at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood on Saturday, December 8, 2001 to loving parents Gerard J. Fiore, Jr. and Diana Fiore.
He was a 2021 graduate of Toms River High School North, where he played for the Mariners varsity ice hockey and track & field teams. Over his last years of high school, he earned multiple welding certificates from Ocean County Vocational Technical School.
He was on track to earn an Associate’s Degree from Ocean County College in May 2025. Evan worked as a Welder/Foreman for R&S Contracting for seven years, developing dreams of one day opening and managing his own business. Prior to that, throughout high school, Evan worked as a lifeguard in Seaside Park – a fitting vocation, considering his constantly active nature, and one in which he once notably came to the rescue of a swimmer in distress.
Evan loved playing hockey, snowboarding, surfing, weightlifting, and getting his truck stuck in the sand pits with his friends (even if getting it back out could tend to be a bit of a pain), and was an avid fan of country music and pro hockey. Evan quickly accomplished one goal in particular that can often prove so elusive for so many – he found the love of his life. He and his Girlfriend, Kiley Armstrong, met at Toms River North, and were inseparable for four and a half years, enjoying spending time with mutual friends, vacationing in Cape May, dining out at their favorite restaurants, and sharing each other’s company. Evan was kind, and loved being with his sisters.
He was good-natured, even in hard times. And he was consistently calm under pressure, a trait that tended to rub off on others. He managed to leverage that calmness into successfully pulling off an extraordinarily wide range of practical jokes, which he savored with an inexhaustible sense of good humor. No one who knew Evan well got to enjoy enough time with him. But all of them are forever grateful they got the time with him they did.
Evan was predeceased by a Grandfather, Don Voorhees. He is survived by a long and loving list of relatives, including Mother Diana Fiore (Voorhees), Father Gerard J. Fiore, Jr., and Stepmother Alban Fiore (DeLorenzo), all of Toms River, as well as Siblings Emma Richardson, Gabriella Fiore, Mila Fiore, and Giada Fiore, along with a very large extended family.
A viewing has been scheduled to take place from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 Saint Catherine’s Boulevard in Toms River. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. the next day, Friday, March 21, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Avenue in Toms River.
