Francis J. Malloy, 84, (Frank, Moose, Sonny) of Berkeley Township and Bayonne, NJ, passed from this life peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024 with his loving wife and 3 children by his side. He was born on June 14, 1940, was raised, and lived in Bayonne until moving to Berkeley Township in 2018. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and trusted friend. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Catholic War Veterans. He was a dedicated worker for IMTT-Bayonne as an oil recovery specialist for 37 years. He was an active parishioner of St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Bayonne for more than 80 years. He relished the time spent hanging out with their group of friends for Friday night pizza. He could easily be found sitting on his favorite chair in the house watching his beloved Fighting Irish, New York Giants, and New York Yankees. But his favorite time over the years was spent, sitting on the sidelines, next to his wife, wearing the team gear, and cheering on his children and grandchildren as they play the sports they love. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Francis is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anna, brothers Joseph, Thomas, and Robert and sisters Eileen, Marion, Geraldine, and Anna Marie Nugent.
Francis is survived by his wife and best friend for 56 years, Lois “Swifty” (Nowicki); his children, Cheryl Hedler and her husband Rob, Michael and his wife Colleen, Marc and his wife Rebecca; his grandchildren, Dylan Hedler, Michael Malloy, Nicholas Malloy, Matthew Malloy, and Alexandra Malloy, and his step granddaughter Nicolette Blackburn (Hedler); he is also survived by his 12 nieces and nephews as well as 3 cherished children that affectionately called him “Grandpa Moose.”
