Frank A. Auletta, 84, of Toms River, N.J., formerly of West Orange, N.J., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026. Born in Newark, N.J., to the late Rocco and Olympia Auletta. Mr. Auletta was a man defined by his industrious spirit, enduring humor, and profound dedication to his family and community. For decades, he was a familiar and trusted fixture in Essex County as the proprietor of A1 Automotive in Orange, N.J. There, he combined mechanical expertise with a rare, old-school ethos of civic compassion, establishing his garage as a cornerstone of the neighborhood. Mr. Auletta spent many of his formative and family years in West Orange before retiring to Toms River, Ocean County in 2005. Retirement, however, did not dim his civic engagement. He became an anchor of local cultural life as a member, past president, and trustee of the Seaside Italian American Club, where he championed heritage and camaraderie. An outdoorsman in his youth, Mr. Auletta possessed a lifelong zest for adventure, spending years traversing trails on motorcycles and snowmobiles, organizing camping excursions, and participating in local bowling leagues. In his later years, he embraced more tranquil pleasures: solving complex sudoku puzzles, enjoying card games, and visiting Atlantic City. His favorite sanctuary remained his home, where he spent sunny afternoons by the pool or hot tub, surrounded by the family and friends who were the true centerpiece of his life. Mr. Auletta was predeceased in 2002 by his beloved wife of many years, Nancy Auletta, and by his sister, Celeste. He is survived by his four children: Theresa (Terri) Corblies and her husband, John, of Toms River; Rocco Auletta and his wife, Lisa, of Hazlet, N.J.; Frank Auletta, Jr. of West Orange; and Danielle Auletta of Hillsborough, N.J. He is also survived by his brother, Ben Auletta; his sister, Vera Vivona, both of Bound Brook, N.J.; five grandchildren, Melanie, Kaitlyn, Casandra, Tyler, and Alex; and great granddaughter Nila, as well as a devoted circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends and relatives to celebrate his life and legacy on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, N.J. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com
