With deep love and sorrow, the family of Genevieve F. Heckman announce she passed away on May 12, 2026, with her family around her. Genevieve was born on August 23, 1937 in the Bronx, NY to John and Jane (Dooley) Fitzpatrick (deceased) along with five brothers and sisters, George Fitzpatrick, John Fitzpatrick, Steve Fitzpatrick, Helen Fitzpatrick Rogers, and Rita Fitzpatrick Lyons Kurz (all deceased).
Genevieve was a devout Catholic and was on the Parish Council for many years and a Lay Minister of the Eucharist at St Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel, NJ. Genevieve worked at Brookdale Community College until her post polio had her go on disability. She earned her master’s degrees at Thomas Edison College. While working she met her husband Richard G. Heckman (deceased) and was married for 42 wonderful years. The two of them enjoyed boating and fishing, visiting many different ports and going to Florida two times down the inter-coastal waterway. Genevieve enjoyed having and planning family gatherings, especially her Christmas Holiday gathering.
Genevieve is survived by her daughter Kerri and (deceased husband Nick) Rospos, daughter Doreen Howell, and daughter Genevieve (Gigi) and husband Joe Iskra, four grandchildren, Kaci Iskra-Buck, Nick and wife Courtney Rospos, Jane and husband David Howard, and Julie and husband Mike Botts along with 6 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O’Connell Chapel, 706 Atlantic City Blvd (Rte 9), Bayville, NJ on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at St Barnabas RC Church, Bayville, NJ. Burial to follow at the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ
