George T. Gugliotta, 100 passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. He lived in Holiday City, Toms River for over 40 years. George grew up in North Newark, where he had many friends and family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life Margaret Bianchi, George and Marge were married over 75 years before her passing in January 2024. You could always find them together on the dance floor at clubhouse dances and weddings. George had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, owning his own business before retiring and still working through his retirement years as a dealer at the Taj Mahal, Atlantic City.
George was a proud WWII Army Veteran attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a Bronze Star & Purple Heart Recipient. George served in the 1st Armored Division 6th Infantry Regiment taking part in many campaigns in North Africa, Italy, Germany, including Anzio Beachhead.
George led an active lifestyle, he was a member of the Holiday City (Carefree) Men’s Club, he enjoyed swimming, bicycling, bowling, bocce, and darts, he also loved his plants, he had a green thumb and can make anything grow.
George was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River and was a member of the VFW Post 10185, Berkeley Twp. and the Toms River Disabled American Veterans.
George is predeceased by his wife, Margaret Gugliotta, four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his sister, Helen Smith of Nutley, his daughters, Georgeann Amelio, Marlene (Robert) Stinson, Karen (Lawrence) Samples, Cheryl (Glenn) Nier, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 7, 2024 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, November 8, 2024 10:00am at St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
