Harold W. "Mickey" Burghard, Jr., of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Born in Teaneck, New Jersey, Mickey was raised in Bergenfield before making Toms River his home more than 40 years ago.
Mickey proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was an entrepreneur and, together with his brother, Robert, owned and operated RCB Home Improvement in Toms River for many years.
Mickey had a lifelong love of golf and could often be found on the course or watching tournaments on television. Whether playing a round with friends or following the professionals, the game brought him great joy.
His loyal dog, Max, was his faithful companion for many years. Although Max recently passed away, Max's ashes will be interred alongside Mickey—a fitting tribute to the bond and companionship they shared throughout the years.
Mickey will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, quick sense of humor, and the steadfast devotion he showed to the people he loved.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold W. Burghard, Sr. and Rosemary Burghard; and by his brother, Raymond Burghard, Sr. and his wife Marie; and brother, Robert Burghard.
He is survived by his life partner, Patricia Chamberlain of Toms River, New Jersey; his niece, Rosemarie Burghard-Pelatti and her husband, Joe Pelatti; his nephew, Raymond Burghard, Jr.; his nieces, Patti-Ann Burghard, Audra Burghard, and Robyn Burghard; his nephew, Robert Burghard; sister-in-law Anne Burghard and many great-nieces. He is also survived by Patricia's grandsons, Nicholas and Joseph Albericci, whom he loved as his own.
A committal service with military honors will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, New Jersey.
