Heather Hawthorne

With our deepest sympathies and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Heather Suzanne (Clinton) Hawthorne, age 51, of Island Heights, NJ while surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, July 1st, 2024. Heather was born in Toms River and raised in Lavallette, New Jersey before attending colleges in California and Rhode Island, where she graduated from the University of Rhode Island.

A loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and wife, Heather was an elementary school teacher for 25 years, the majority of which was at Lavallette Elementary School, where both she and her siblings had attended along with her mother as well. She had an avid interest in dogs, music (the Dave Matthews Band, in particular), gardening, food, and teaching.

Heather was predeceased by her father, Douglas Clinton. She is survived by her loving family: mother, Nina Clinton; husband of 19 years, Ken; brother, Scott Clinton; sister and brother-in-law, Lindsay (Clinton) and Jeff Lankenau; sons, Connor and Drew; pets, Gracie Sweetheart and Talula Mae mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Ed Hawthorne; brother-in-law, Steve Hawthorne; nephews, Brendan Hawthorne, Logan Lankenau, and Brody Lankenau; niece, Brielle Lankenau; godmother, Cheri (Glasgow) Jackob along with her aunt, uncles, cousins, and their children.

The family will receive relatives and friends on July 5th, 2024, 3pm-7pm at Timothy Ryan Funeral Home, located at 145 Saint Catherine Blvd, Toms River, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Save Barnegat Bay (www.savebarnetbay.org) or choose to wait to donate for a future scholarship fund being set up in Heather’s name later this year to keep her memory alive.
