Howard Metzner Jr.

Howard Metzner, Jr., 90, of Jackson, NJ, past on his Savior’s Jesus Christ’s birthday, Saturday, December 25, 2021, joining his wife Irene in heaven for Christmas. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Bergen County NJ, also most memorable Lake St. Catherine, VT, before moving to Jackson, NJ to live with his most graciously giving daughter and her husband, Denise & Craig Tullo.

Howard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before establishing a lifelong career as an Insurance Executive, he held the distinguished position as Vice President of John Hancock in NYC. Howard was revered a very blessed and accomplished man.

Howard was a courageous, fearless man, he was honorably recognized for his heroic act of bravery. He was the 1st on scene, administering aid to rescue a man’s life. His Courage was Awarded by the Mayor of Ramsey NJ. After his retirement Howard held a position as security guard for the Children’s Specialized Hospital in NJ. The job fulfilled his heart to give and care for them all. They dearly loved and admired him.

Howard was always vibrant all his life, he was so happy go lucky with a bright hug and smile for everyone. Howard so loved taking and doing for his family. You name the adventure he did it with his family! Always a jovial fun-loving time was had in their journeys together.  Boating, hiking, fishing (he snagged a 250 pound + Blue Marlin, 30 miles off the coast of Cuba, the lucky fisherman he was!), camping, or just a friendly poker game at home! The Good Times always rolled with Howard at the Helm!

 Howard loved his Lord and God tremendously and served him in all the good he shared throughout is life. Howard had the bounce of Glory in every step he took.

 He and wife Irene, always stepped together, never missing a beat, they lite up the room with their dancing as they floated across the dance floor.  A match made in heaven. Howard was an amazing father and grandfather. His family is grateful for all he gave and taught them by his great loving examples. His” Unconditional Love” will be Cherished Forever!

 Howard is preceded in death by his wife Irene Metzner, his daughter Theresa Maria Metzner, his parents Howard and Josephine (Bersche) Metzner, and his sister Alice D’Addetta. He will be forever missed by his loving family, son Howard III and his wife Christine Metzner of Port Charlotte, FL, his daughter Theresa Marie and her husband Steven Petruzzelli of Crawford, GA, his daughter Denise and her husband Craig Tullo of Jackson, NJ, his sister Loretta Krone, 9 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

 The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 9:30am until the funeral service at 11:30am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, DeBow Chapel, 150 West Veterans Highway, Jackson, NJ.
