Irene Austin Obituary

Irene E. Austin, 80 of Toms River, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Woodhaven, Queens, N.Y. before moving to Toms River 51 years ago. Irene graduated from St. Michael Commercial High School and was a secretary for Western Electric in New York, N.Y. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

Irene is predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter in 2011, her parents, Richard and Therese Fountain, her step mother, Janet Fountain and her son in law, Robert Bartels.

Irene is survived by her five children, Maureen Bartels of Toms River, Robert and Karla Austin of Toms River, Patricia and Andrew Knoetig of Toms River, Walter Jr. and Casey Austin of East Northport, N.Y., Brian Austin of Toms River, a sister, Terry Locke of Hicksville, N.Y. and several nephews, and thirteen grandchildren; Dana, Jay, Kevin, Ryan, Colin, Declan, Gunnar, Aubrey, Liam, Erin, Bryn, Shea, Quinn and her beloved dog, Taco.
