James Abar, 91, of Holiday City, Berkeley Twp., passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Born in Braintree, MA, James grew up in East Orange, NJ and graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School. Following graduation, he served in the US Army. After his discharge, he married his wife Maureen 1958. They were together for 60 years. Prior to moving to Toms River in 2000, he lived in Bloomfield, NJ where he worked in quality control for EWC in Kenilworth until his retirement.
James was an active member of the Holiday City - Berkeley community participating in the Bocce Club and other activities. He also participated in two bowling leagues. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Toms River.
James was predeceased by his wife Maureen in 2018.
He is survived by his three children, Sharon Abar of Toms River, NJ Kenneth Abar and his wife Tracy of Buckhead, GA and Kathleen (Abar) Whaley of Woodbury, NJ; his grandchildren, Dylan and Jamie Abar, and Samantha Whaley. His love and devotion as a father and grandfather will be remembered always. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 14, 2025 9:30am until the funeral service at 11:30am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd, Toms River. Burial to follow at the BG William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
