Janet (Schipano) Montanaro

Janet (Schipano) Montanaro, 86, of Crestwood Manor, Whiting, NJ, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021. Janet was born on July 23, 1935 in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Bernard Schipano and Florence Sarti Schipano.  She was a beloved mother, and grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Janet lived most of her adult life in Ocean County, NJ where she held a variety of jobs from bookkeeper to daycare worker, to cook. She enjoyed serving others from the young to the old.

Janet truly expressed the joy of the lord to those around her, whether through her jobs or her crafting, playing bingo, laughing and joking with friends, sending special cards to her loved ones, or cooking.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Denise Montanaro Sailstad and her husband, Jeffrey Sailstad of Durham, North Carolina; her son, Kenneth Dean Montanaro and his wife, Leslie Montanaro of Barnegat, New Jersey; grandchildren, Edina Montanaro Hood, Ryan Sailstad, Dylan Montanaro and Karyn Sailstad Wolstenholme; great grandchildren, Kailee Montanaro, Payton Montanaro, Grace Sailstad, James Wolstenholme, Miles Wolstenholme and Leia Sailstad; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Doris Schipano Zeberl and her brother Bernard Schipano, Jr.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm with a funeral service to be offered at 2:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O’Connell Chapel, 706 Rt. 9, Bayville, NJ.
