Janice Marie Berri

Janice Marie Berri, 76, of Whiting, Manchester Twp., NJ, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born in Newark, NJ, and raised in Irvington, she later moved to Ocean County where she was a resident for over 40 years.

Janice was a nurturer in all aspects of her life. She was a mother who dedicated herself to being involved in everything for her children. She was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, a volunteer for every school function and sporting event, and did a lot of work with youth outreach programs through her role on the PTA board. She found further purpose for her abundance of compassion and her desire to help through her career. She was a residential counselor, a direct support professional, and a group home supervisor for several disability advocacy and behavioral health organizations throughout Ocean County where the amount of lives she touched are countless. In her retirement, she reconnected with childhood friends and had plenty of “girls days” which brought her endless joy, saw as many plays and musicals as possible, and never stopped lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a worldclass cook and a beautiful singer with a heart of gold, an iron will, and an incredible sense of humor. She had a natural gift for making everything feel special, warm, and bright. She will be missed immensely by all that knew her. She was simply the best.

Janice is survived by her three children Damien, Dion, and Dorian. Her memory will live on through family traditions, her recipes, and stories of her accomplishments and of all the good she did in this world

Janice is now with her parents John and Rita Berri, her husband Edward F. Allen, and all her beloved pets from over the years. Her ideal afterlife would be enjoying everlasting family dinners filled with the best food, feeding the dogs from the table, jokes, and stories followed by singing around her father’s piano, card games that go late into the night, and of course, dessert and tea.

A Memorial Gathering will be offered for family and friends Saturday, July 19, 2025 5:00pm – 7:00pm with a prayer service to be offered at 6:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
