Jean Ann Haderer (nee Knapp), age 88, of Lavallette, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Born in Newark, she was raised in Irvington, married and raised her family in Union before moving to Lavallette 24 years ago.
Jean worked in the Township of Union Tax Office for over 25 years, retiring in 2003.
Jean was loved by many and her positive attitude was contagious. She collected friends wherever she went enjoying her mahjong gang, Irvington group, widows’ group, gym crowd, the Jersey City Ave neighbors, Union friends, sassy ladies, and senior group just to name a few. She loved her family gatherings and always made everyone feel special. Throughout her life she faced many health and personal challenges, handling each with grace, dignity and positivity right up until she was called to heaven.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert F. Haderer in 1999.
She is survived by her three children Linda McGeehan (Edward) of Colonia, Robert W. Haderer (Linda) of Skillman and Kenneth Haderer (Elise) of Seabrook Island.
She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren Kaitlin LiVolsi (Daniel), Patrick McGeehan (Kaitlyn), Rob Haderer (Emily), Michael Haderer (Christine), Elizabeth Rittenhouse (Nick), Steven Haderer (Brandy), Allie Matthews (Eddie).
She was also blessed with eight great grandchildren Matthew LiVolsi, Jack LiVolsi, Maggie LiVolsi, James Haderer, Reese Haderer, Mia Haderer, Feyre Jean Haderer, and Madison McGeehan.
She leaves behind her beloved brother and sister-in-law Edward and Patricia Knapp, cousin Robert Marut and his wife Sara Marut, and loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 3, 2025 9:00am – 9:45am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:00am at Parish of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Lavallette, NJ.
