Jerry Balestro, 86, of Holiday City Berkeley, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at home with his family beside him.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ. Jerry then moved to Union, NJ where he raised his children. He then moved to Seaside Park NJ, before residing in Toms River, NJ in 1995.
Jerry was owner of Diana’s Luncheonette in Union, NJ and then J.C’s Deli in Seaside Park, NJ for many years.
He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran.
Jerry was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp. and was a member of the Italian American Club.
He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas, Mario and Anthony Balestro and sisters Mary Del Maestro and Katherine Del Maestro.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Diana (nee Bianchetti), his two children Jerry Balestro and his wife Karen of Warminster, PA, Thelma Gardner and her husband Joseph of Toms River, NJ, a sister Concetta Massenzio of Toms River, four grandchildren Karisa, Victoria, Joseph and Nicole and one great grandchild Trent.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, August 27, 2021 10:00am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley.
