Joan (Thuring) Bartholomew

Joan Bartholomew (nee Thuring) 91, of the Holiday City West section of Berkeley Township died on May 18, 2025 at home. Born in East Orange, NJ, she lived in Kearny, NJ before relocating to Holiday City 33 years ago. Living in Holiday City she enjoyed playing mahjong and canasta at the clubhouse with her friends. She also enjoyed gardening and couldn’t wait for her first Jersey tomato of the season. Joan received her BA from Bloomfield College in accounting. She was employed by several trucking firms and Lempert Advertising firm of Belleville in accounting and bookkeeping. Joan is predeceased by her husband Walter and son Richard and sister, Patrica Muller. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Bartholomew Gilbert (Bart) of Howell, Valerie Bartholomew Gunsalus (Rick) of Beachwood, sons Stephen Bartholomew of Seaside Heights, Douglas Bartholomew (Cheryl) of Brick. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren . Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on May 27, 2025 from 10:00am to 12:30pm Service at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Tom’s River, NJ. Joan’s burial will follow the service at the New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
