Joan “Imogen, Joanie” Lombardi, 94, of Holiday City Berkeley West, passed away on April 28th, 2026 peacefully, and without pain. Joan was one of, and the last surviving, of seven siblings. There were brothers Bobby and Adrian “Sonny”, and sisters Mildred, Edna, Emmie, and Irene “Sissy”. She met the love of her life, Generoso Lombardi, a little later in life than some people, but their love and strength to one another was as strong as any completely lifelong romance.
Before she became Gene’s world, Joan’s whole world was her son, Thomas J. Hahn Jr. He was a devoted and loving son, living his life and making his decisions based on the ever present thought of his mother’s welfare. Thomas passed the previous fall, in November 2025, after an intense battle with lung cancer.
Joan is survived by her niece, Cynthia Popiel, niece Pamela Grandinetti, nephew Jack Hascup, grand-niece Melisa Rich, and grand-nephew Paul Rich. She is also survived by her daughter in law, Lynn M. Leeds, and her grandson, Justin Thomas Hahn. Although they divorced many years ago, Lynn and Tom’s love for each other was always a deep and lifelong bond, shared and intensified through their combined and unconditional love for their son, Joan’s grandson, Justin Hahn. Lynn was the constant love in Tom’s life, and Tom never remarried.
Joan will be remembered as a strong, independent woman, avid and enthusiastic traveler, a fiercely loyal sister, a loving wife, an attentive and caring grandmother, and a simply beautiful soul.
Her memories of the amazing and fulfilling life she led, and the people she touched, will always be held near and dear in her family’s hearts. Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, in Arneytown, NJ, this Tuesday, May 5, 2026. She has waited a long time to be able to lay down next to Gene again, since his passing in June 2012.
