Joan E. (Dochat) Valeri

Joan E. (Dochat) Valeri, 84, of Lakewood, NJ died on Thursday February 11, 2021 at her home. Joan was born in Lancaster, PA and lived in Highland Park, NJ and raised her four boys with her husband Fred in Edison, NJ and So. Seaside Park, NJ. She moved to Lakewood, NJ 13 years ago.

Joan was a graduate of Douglas College of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ achieving a double major in Business Administration and in Physical Education. She received her Master’s Degree from Indiana University. She worked for the YWCA  as the Director of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Joan was Past President of the Trade Winds Chapter of Deborah, a member of the Joshua Huddy Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Toms River, NJ and was on the Residents Council and Chair of the Decorating Committee for Harrogate in Lakewood, NJ.

She loved her family, swimming, bowling, tennis and playing cards.

Joan is predeceased by her parents George and Helen Dochat; her son Kenneth Valeri and her sister Gail.

Surviving are her sons Ronald Valeri and his wife Lynda of Pelican Island, NJ, Timothy Valeri and his wife Erin of Edison, NJ and Bill Valeri and his wife Barbara of Witchita Falls, TX; her 8 grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Monday February 15, 2021 from 2-5pm with a Service at 4pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave. Seaside Park, NJ. Committal will be private. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com.
