John Best

John Best, 81, of Jackson, NJ, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025. While he was born in Long Branch, NJ, he lived the majority of his life in Jackson, NJ with his bride of 36 years, Mercy Celis Best.

John graduated from Grove City College in Grove City, PA, which launched his mathematical teaching career. John was a high school math teacher at Ocean Township High School.

John was predeceased by his wife Mercedes (Mercy) Celis Best in May 2024, and his parents Emerson Conver Best and Mary Agnes Stanley Best.

John is survived by his niece Dawn Elizabeth Best, and his brother Leroy Best.

A committal service and entombment will take place Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Maplewood Cemetery, in Freehold, NJ.

Arrangements will be under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, DeBow Chapel, 150 West Veterans Hwy, Jackson, NJ.
