John C. LaCagnina, 84, of Holiday City, Berkeley Twp., NJ, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Carteret, NJ and Milford, PA before moving to Berkeley Twp. 8 years ago.
John was a Truck Driver and a member of the New Jersey Teamsters Local 707 for many years before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitars, crabbing, and spending time with his family.
John served in the United States Army for 4 1/2 years, attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He served during the Vietnam War.
He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Elsie LaCagnina and three sisters Joanne, Concetta and Patricia.
John is survived by his wife Susan (nee Petersen), six children Lori Lang (Dave) of Pittsburgh, PA, Susan Tasnady (George) of Toms River, Jennifer Szemcsak (Jay) of Carteret, NJ, Jaime Stragapede (Phil) of Toms River, Vincent Roccanova (Heather) of Carteret, NJ, Thomas Roccanova (Dana) of Brick, NJ, a brother, Robert LaCagnina of NJ, ten grandchildren Justin, Koriann, Nicholas, Jarrod, Samantha, Zakary, Jakob, Riley, James and Rocco and a great grandchild Mia.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 4:00pm – 8:00pm and Wednesday, January 22, 2025 10:00am until the funeral service at 11:00am at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. Burial to follow the funeral service on Wednesday at the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
