John J. McGrady, Sr.

John J. McGrady, Sr., 87, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Born in Plains, PA, he lived in Kearny, NJ, before settling in the Berkeley Twp. area 26 years ago. John was a Police Officer for the Kearny Police Department, for over 30 years. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth “Bette” M. (Schuler) McGrady, his parents John J. and Marie (Padden) McGrady, and his brothers Joseph E. McGrady, and Eugene A. McGrady. John will be forever missed by his loving family, daughter Karen and her husband John Karp of Parlin, NJ, son John J. McGrady, Jr. and his wife Marie of Lacey, NJ, daughter Maureen, and her husband Edward Rygiel of Manahawkin, NJ, and daughter Joanne and her husband Erich Christiansen of Bloomfield, NJ. He was the beloved Papa of ten grandchildren, Melissa, Meghan, Ian, Sean, Aidan, Allison, Evan, Jesse, Kyle and Kaylen, nine great-grandchildren, and Uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 6, 2022, from 3 to 7pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River, NJ.
