John Sirugo

John Sirugo, 80, of Berkeley Township, NJ, passed into eternal rest Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jennie Sirugo and his sister, Carmela Lorino.

Born in Ragusa, Italy, John lived in Elmwood Park, NJ for 29 years then Budd Lake before moving to Berkeley Township, NJ in 2013.

John is survived by his cherished wife and best friend of 58 years, Geraldine (nee Liska), his two beloved children: son Joseph Sirugo and his wife Julie of Wayne, NJ; daughter Jennifer Schweighardt and her husband Michael of Sparta, NJ; five grandchildren: Emily, Joseph and Elizabeth Sirugo, Marla and Jack Schweighardt, a great-grandchild, Savannah Smith and his beloved cousins who helped see him through the challenge of many illnesses.

John was a Tractor Trailer Driver for Coca-Cola Corporation in Paterson, NJ for 37 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 125 and Local 812. John loved making friends and had a rare charisma that people gravitated to. He will be missed by many and be remembered for years to come for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and easy laugh. Even though John’s life was affected by many health issues, he fought hard to overcome them all. May God rest his soul, now free of affliction and pain.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm with a funeral service to be offered at 3:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
