John D. Squicciarini age 88 of the Holiday City, Carefree section of Berkeley Township passed away on December 13, 2025 after suffering years with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born in Weehawken, NJ and resided in Elmwood Park, NJ and West Chester, PA before moving to Toms River in 1999. He was the son of the late James & Fannie Squicciarini. He was predeceased by his brothers: Nick, George, Alex, Jimmy and sister Maryann Ritchie.
John is survived by his wife Sonja (Hejselbak), his children: Lynne Vandemotter (Jeff), Lori March, John J., James (Veronica), David, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandsons as well as several loving nieces and nephews and sister in law Mary Squicciarini.
Between 1956 and1958 John was proud to serve his country in the US Army and stationed at Ft. Benning, GA and Stugaart, Germany.
John served as President, Secretary and Director of the Holiday City Homeowners Corp. (Carefree). He was a member of the Carefree Mens Club, Anglers Club, Social Club and Carefree Players. He participated in activities such as Bocce, Darts, Shuffleboard, Golf and Bowling. Several days a week you could find him playing cards or playing Billiards at the Clubhouse. He was a Volunteer for several years for the Freecare group formed in Carefree.
He was Supervisor for Philadelphia Gear Corp., King of Prussia, PA and also owned a Trophy Shoppe in New York City. John also was employed as Maintenance Supervisor from 2006 to 2011 at the Carefree Clubhouse.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 19, 2025 2:00pm – 6:00pmn at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, December 20, 2025 10:00am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp. Burial to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
