John W. Bentham, a proud Vietnam veteran and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025.
John honorably served his country in the Vietnam War, carrying with him the values of dedication, courage, and service throughout his life. After his military service, he continued to embody integrity, kindness, and quiet strength, remaining devoted to his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sharon D. Bentham; his son, John F. Bentham; his daughter, Sherrie D. Hunkele, and her husband, Edward P. Hunkele; and his cherished grandchildren, Faith G. Hunkele and Jewel L. Hunkele. He was preceded in death by his siblings RuthAnn Bruce, George Bentham, and David Bentham, and is survived by one loving sibling, Robert Bentham and many nieces and nephews.
John’s legacy of love, service, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 5:00pm – 7:00pm and Thursday, November 6, 2025 11:00am until the funeral service at 12:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. Burial to follow the service on Thursday at the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
