Jose Ernesto Munoz, 83, of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on February 1, 2025 at Community Medical Center in Toms River surrounded by his wife, children and his friend, Tommy Sauickie. He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico and lived most of his life in Toms River. Jose worked for IFF, International Flavors and Fragrances in Hazlet for 40 years as a Truck Driver. Jose served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968, during the Tet Offensive. He ended his time with the army achieving the rank of Sergeant, E5. He belonged to the 321st Transportation Company. Every year he attended his reunion in different states where his brothers in arms lived. Jose also belonged to the American Legion and VFW Post #6063 in Toms River.
Jose is predeceased by his ex-wife, Ida M. Crespo Annunziata. He is survived by his daughter, Tara Munoz Croteau and grandchildren, Jeffrey Croteau and Justin Croteau.
Jose is survived by his second ex-wife, Sharon Munoz and his son, Joseph J. Munoz who is a Police Officer.
Jose is survived by his partner and wife, of 25 years, Anda Munoz and stepdaughter, Haley Lynn Hodapp of Plainsboro, New Jersey and her partner Stephen Zdrodowski.
Jose was predeceased by his mother, Gloria Maria Velez and stepfather, Nataneal Velez.
Jose was one of 9 siblings. He is predeceased by his siblings, Juanita Munoz Morales; Lydia Ester Munoz Morales; Delmar Munoz Danaty; Ana Hilda Rodriguez; Emilio Munoz; Alicia Rosado; Luz E Monteroso and Iris Violeta Munoz Reyes.
Jose is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jose enjoyed working outside and being with family and friends, and most of all, he loved NASCAR and being there in person and watching on the television.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 9am to 11am at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Memorial service will begin at 11am, at the funeral home with burial to follow at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
