Joseph R. Inserra, 71, of Toms River passed from this life July 20, 2021 after a long fight with cancer.  He was born September 30, 1949 in Passaic, N.J. and later moved to Lodi and Staten Island, N.Y.

A graduate of NCE (later NJIT) and Fairleigh Dickinson University, he worked for the US Army CECOM division at Ft. He was the only child and predeceased by his parents Ralph Inserra and Rose (Rosa) Sarese Inserra.

He was a loving husband to his wife of nearly 45 years, Karen Bisogna Inserra and devoted father to Dawn Inserra and Cindy McDevitt and father-in-law to William Distanislao and the late Nelson McDevitt.  He especially loved spending time and laughs with his granddaughter Kylie McDevitt and taking long walks on the beach with his loyal dog, Cosmo.  He was a wonderful handyman and always eager to lend a helping hand.  He is dearly loved and will be missed all the days of our lives.
