Joseph P. Cucci, 61, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023. Born in Newark, NJ, he lived in Hillside, NJ, before settling in Toms River 24 years ago.
Joe worked for the County of Union, The Department of Parks and Recreation for 28 years. Day to day he would be involved with payroll, purchasing, and hiring. He derived joy from his job in what really mattered, giving back to the community through the planning and volunteering of various county wide events and festivals in the support of families and children.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Sansone) Cucci, his father-in-law John Tortoriello and beloved Aunts and Uncles.
Joe will be forever missed and held in the hearts of his loving family; his wife of 33 years Lori Ann T. (Tortoriello) Cucci, son Joseph J. Cucci and his girlfriend Jennifer Aughtry, son Anthony M. Cucci, mother-in-in-law Anna Tortoriello, as well as a wealth of loving extended family and friends.
Joe was a very kind, loving and giving person. He loved sports and followed his teams, New York Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers in both winning and losing seasons. He coached both his sons in little league and basketball and found pleasure instructing all the players to be the best they could be.
Joe’s final act of giving was the gift of organ donation. My hope is that in the giving of these gifts his spirit of kindness, compassion, and love he showed to others will live on.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 3 to 7pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11 am at St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, NJ.
