Joseph John Poplawski Jr., 76 of Bayville, NJ passed peacefully on March 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  Joseph, also known as “Joe Pop”,  was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and made Bayville his home in 1975.  He and his wife of 49 years, Diane, built a life together raising two daughters.  Joe worked for Berkeley Township Public Works for more than 25 years.  He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and proudly served in the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, and aidOperation Iraqi Freedom before retiring from the military in 2005.  In retirement he enjoyed playing golf, vacationing at his home in South Carolina, and spending countless hours with the loves of his life, his grandchildren.  Joe was an avid New York Giants fan and loved movies.   He was a member of the VFW Post 9503 of Bayville and the American Legion Unit 129 of Toms River.  

Joe was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. Joseph is survived by his wife, Diane Sheridan Poplawski; daughters, Jodiann Pluta and her husband Robert of Manahawkin; AprilAnn Ansbro and her husband Kevin of Manahawkin; his three grandchildren; Aiden Joseph Pluta, Emily Madison Pluta and Shealynn Rose Ansbro.  His brother, David; and sisters Diana (Mooney) and Sharon of California, as well as many other friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Joe is predeceased by his son Joseph David and his parents Joseph John Poplawski, Sr. and Lillian Poplawski.  

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1pm to 5pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O’Connell Chapel, 706 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, March 18, 2024 with Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
