Joseph M. Wicinski, 83 of Berkeley Township, passed from this life peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Joseph was born in Staten Island, New York on March 1, 1943. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a dear friend.
He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and his community as a FDNY Firefighter for over 30 years at Engine 74 in Manhattan and Engine151/Ladder 76 in Staten Island. He was an avid fisherman, skilled pilot, accomplished gardener, and versatile “jack-of-all-trades”. His cooking skills impressed and delighted all who ate his meals. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Staten Island and a member of St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Francis Wicinski and Angelina Napolitano Wicinski, and his spouse, Jane Matejka Wicinski.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Celia Duffy; sons, Joe Wicinski, and his partner Bill Benner; Jim Wicinski; Mike Wicinski and his wife Dora and grandson Mason; brothers, Frank Wicinski and his wife Theresa; Peter Wicinski and his wife Mari; sisters, Mariann Mottola; Amy Ferone and her husband Bob.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Thursday, April 30, 2026 at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Township
Committal services will be held privately.
