Kathleen D. McCandless, (Kay), 84, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, she lived in Old Bridge, NJ, before moving to Toms River.
Kathleen was a dedicated teacher for the Marlboro Township Public Schools for 31 years and was a parishioner of St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, Toms River.
She was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Kathleen McCandless. Kay will be lovingly remembered by her lifelong friend, Joan Kiernan, Niece Darlene Cummings and husband Tommy, Godson Ryan Cummings, wife Elizabeth and their children Shea, Rory, Declan and Flynn, all of whom she adored. Kay is also survived by her Godson, Derek Bieber and wife Lisa. Kay will be missed by several cousins and a multitude of friends.
A frequent jet setter, voracious reader, and notable pet sitter, Kay was an avid Yankees fan and loved to enjoy the sun with a glass of wine by the pool and tiki bar. Her favorite times were spent at Cummings family gatherings, caring for animals, and visiting with friends. Kay was a wonderful woman and loved by all who knew her.
The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, November 3, 2024 2:00pm – 5:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, November 4, 2024 9:30am at St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, Toms River. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
